Hello.

My name is Tayla and this is where I document my adventures in studying, travel, beauty, food and maybe a little bit of style. Happy reading.

Anything but Ordinary

Anything but Ordinary

The Ordinary is a brand that has taken the world by storm. For good reason too.

I picked up some bits from The Ordinary a good few months ago now, probably around the start of winter. I ordered these products off ASOS, which do have a good selection of products, but frequently run out of it. Feel Unique and Adore Beauty both stock The Ordinary and so does Makeup Obsessives if your looking to purchase some products.

The thing that is most impressive about The Ordinary is that they use tried and tested skincare ingredients that are known to work, but there is no hefty price tag.

I picked up two primers, the high-spreadability fluid primer and the high-adherence silicone primer. One of these is significantly better than the other. If your going to purchase a primer, get the high-adherence silicone primer, its a lovely product and I find my makeup really sits well on it and makes my makeup last longer. I also find it quite hydrating and nourishing on the skin. The high-spreadability primer, is not as lovely as the other one. Firstly, I have a huge issue with the packaging with this product, being in a bottle and in a pipette, I thought it was going to be quite liquidy, but it was really gloopy and you lost so much product with the packaging as it just got stuck in the pipette. It also hardened around the top of the bottle, so you lost so much product. The product itself left a really nice feeling to the skin and made it nice a smooth, I found my makeup didn't last as long as it did with the other primer.

I also picked up two of the serums. The Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5 and the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. The Hyaluronic serum targets hydration, and I found the serum simple but effective, during the winter I layered the serum with the Clinique MoistureSurge SuperCharged Concentrate and found the two products together added the burst of hydration my skin needed and not once during the season did I have any dry patches on my skin. The Niacinamide serum helps with blemishes, I found with my skin this didn't really completely get rid of any of my blemishes, but it did help reduce the redness and anger in any blemishes on my skin.

I've really enjoyed these products, and am probably going to repurchase the adherence primer and the two serums and try some more products from the brand as well.
