Summer Skincare Routine
I switched up my skincare routine for the warmer months about a month ago now and I’ve really been enjoying it. I like a simple routine, nothing over the top, streamlined products that I know work. This is my four-step summer skincare routine.
I start off by cleansing my face with the Mario Bedescu Acne facial cleaner, some mornings this is a second cleanse as I have used the Mario Bedescu Seaweed Facial Cleanser in the shower. Other mornings this is my first cleanse, but either way, I find this cleanser really helps reduce any spots that I have and clear my skin up.
After cleansing I used the Mario Bedescu Facial spray, I have both the rosewater one and the aloe, cucumber and green tea which is the one I am using at the moment.
Then I follow up with the Clinique Moisture Surge Supercharged Concentrate. During the winter I had been layering this with The Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid but for the summer, I have just been using the Clinique serum, which gives the perfect amount of hydration for my skin.
Finally I use a Garnier moisturiser, this is their normal to dry skin moisturiser. I actually really enjoy this one, I find it hydrating and just rich enough, it doesn’t feel tacky on my skin, and is affordable which I love.
The final thing I use on my skin in the morning is a sunscreen. I use the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face sunscreen, I haven't been using it long, but it feels realy nice on the skin, doesn't leave a sticky or tacky residue and just melts into the skin so it doesn't even feel like you have sunscreen on. It is so important to be using sunscreen, all year round, but particularly in the summer. Putting on sunscreen is something that hasn't been part of my routine, but that is something I am trying to change this summer.
In the evening I do exactly the same routine, but instead of the Garnier moisturiser, I use a rosehip oil, at the moment I have a ModelCo one, but I tend to switch between oils, usually whichever one is cheapest or on sale.
If I’m in the mood for a mask, then I’ve been reaching for the Garnier tissue masks. I love a clay mask and have quite a few, but these are just so much easier and cleaner. You just leave one on for 10 minutes and then massage the leftover serum into your skin and you’re good to go. I also squeeze the extra serum out of the package and rub that on my hands and lower arms.
